How to use AltoPocket
A wallet that works without signing in, and the AltoPocket account alongside it once you do. Step by step, from the first screen to deposits, withdrawals and swaps.
Two ways, working together in one app
My own wallet
Connect a browser-extension wallet such as TronLink or MetaMask, or use a wallet created in the AltoPocket apps. You hold the keys; no account needed.
AltoPocket account
Sign in with an email account to add deposit addresses, withdrawals, swaps, ALTO points and airdrops. AltoPocket holds and sends this balance.
Your connected wallet stays in use after you sign in. On Send and Receive you choose which side to use: ‘AltoPocket account’ or ‘My own wallet’.
Getting started
Start straight from the web, nothing to install.
- 1Press Open AltoPocket at the top of www.altopocket.com to open the web wallet (wallet.altopocket.com).
- 2Home, Send and Receive work without signing in. Connect a wallet first.
- 3For deposits, withdrawals, swaps and points, Sign in to use the AltoPocket account as well.
- 4Change language and theme under Language and Theme in the menu.
Connect a wallet (TronLink · MetaMask)
TRON assets connect through TronLink; Ethereum-family (EVM) assets through MetaMask or another extension wallet, or WalletConnect.
- 1Install the TronLink or MetaMask extension in desktop Chrome and unlock it.
- 2Press Connect wallet at the top right of the web wallet and pick the wallet that holds the assets you want to see.
- 3Approve the connection in the extension; your balances appear on Home.
- 4On a phone, open this page in the TronLink app's browser, or connect with a WalletConnect QR code.
Connecting only lets AltoPocket read your address. Every transfer is approved in your wallet. If TronLink is on another network, follow the prompt to switch.
Create or import a wallet
The desktop app, the Chrome extension and the Android app can create keys on your device. The web wallet works by connecting an extension wallet.
- 1Open the app for the first time and choose Create New Wallet or Import Existing Wallet. (Extension: Create a new wallet / I already have a recovery phrase)
- 2A new wallet shows a recovery phrase of 12 or 24 words. Write them down in order and keep them offline.
- 3Enter the words the app asks for to confirm your backup.
- 4Set a password for this device. Your keys are encrypted with it and stay on the device.
- 5To import, enter an existing BIP-39 recovery phrase (12–24 words).
Anyone with your recovery phrase can move your assets. Never share it. AltoPocket does not keep your recovery phrase or app password and cannot recover them for you.
Sign up and sign in (AltoPocket account)
An AltoPocket account is created with an email address and a password.
- 1Press Sign in in the web wallet.
- 2First time? Press Need an account? Register, enter your email and a password of at least 8 characters, then press Create account.
- 3After signing in, the AltoPocket account screen has Balances, Deposit, Withdraw, Swap and Airdrop tabs.
The web has no password recovery yet. Keep your password somewhere safe.
Deposit (AltoPocket account)
Send coins to your AltoPocket account from an exchange or another wallet.
- 1After signing in, open the Deposit tab, or choose AltoPocket account on Receive.
- 2Pick a network and press Show deposit address. Each network gets one address that stays yours.
- 3Send to that address from an exchange or another wallet.
- 4Once the blockchain confirms it, it shows in Balances.
Send only assets on the address's network. Assets sent on another network usually cannot be recovered.
Send and receive (My own wallet)
Send and receive directly on the blockchain from the extension wallet you connected.
- 1On Send, choose My own wallet and pick the asset.
- 2Enter the recipient address and amount, then press Review.
- 3Press Confirm and send; TronLink or MetaMask asks for approval. Check the fee in your wallet and approve to send.
- 4To receive, show your address or QR code from Receive.
Blockchain transfers cannot be reversed. Double-check the address and network, and never send to a token contract address.
Withdraw (AltoPocket account)
Send your AltoPocket account balance to an outside address. AltoPocket signs and sends, so no wallet connection is needed.
- 1Open the Withdraw tab, or choose AltoPocket account on Send.
- 2Pick an asset to see the Available to withdraw amount, the Withdrawal fee and the Minimum withdrawal.
- 3Enter the destination address (TRON addresses start with T) and the amount, then press Request withdrawal.
- 4The request waits for approval and is then sent on chain.
Assets whose withdrawals are not open yet show Withdrawals closed; the balance stays in your account. ALTO points cannot be withdrawn.
Swap and ALTO points (AltoPocket account)
Exchange assets inside your account balance, and top up or redeem ALTO points.
- 1After signing in, open Swap, pick the tokens to pay and receive, and enter an amount.
- 2Check the quoted rate, fee and amount received, then press Swap; it settles in your account balance at once.
- 3On Points, Top up ALTO with a coin and Redeem it back.
ALTO is a point used only inside AltoPocket; it cannot be sent on chain or withdrawn. Pairs without a liquidity pool, and coins whose conversion is not open, return no quote.
View NFTs (My own wallet)
See the NFTs held by your connected address, chain by chain.
- 1Open NFTs in the web wallet.
- 2Pick a chain and connect that chain's wallet to see the NFTs it holds.
TRC-20 tokens such as KCW and USDT are not NFTs; they appear in the asset list on Home.
Install the apps (desktop · extension · Android)
The same AltoPocket is available as a desktop app, a Chrome extension and an Android app.
- 1Get the installer for your device from the Download page (Windows · macOS · Linux · Android · Chrome extension).
- 2macOS needs one extra step before the first launch; follow the note on the Download page.
- 3On Android the APK is installed directly, not from the Play Store. Allow the source when asked.
- 4Compare the downloaded file with the SHA-256 value on the Download page to check it was not altered.
The iOS app is not released yet. On iPhone, use the web wallet in Safari.
Security checklist
- Never share your recovery phrase, passwords or private keys. AltoPocket never asks for them.
- Write the recovery phrase on paper and keep it offline. Not in photos, messengers or cloud storage.
- After pasting an address, check its first and last characters. Blockchain transfers cannot be reversed.
- Send only on the same network as the deposit address.
- Download installers only from the Download page on altopocket.com.
- On a shared computer, sign out and disconnect your extension wallet when you are done.
FAQ
- Can I use it without signing in?
- Yes. With a connected extension wallet or a wallet created in the apps, you can check balances, send and receive. Deposit addresses, withdrawals, swaps and points need an AltoPocket account.
- What is the difference between My own wallet and the AltoPocket account?
- In My own wallet you hold the keys and only you can move the assets. The AltoPocket account is a balance AltoPocket holds and signs for. You use both together in one app.
- I lost my recovery phrase.
- AltoPocket does not keep recovery phrases, so it cannot get yours back. With the phrase, you can restore the wallet any time by importing it.
- I forgot my account password.
- The web has no password recovery yet. Contact us through the Support page.
- My withdrawal did not go through right away.
- Withdrawals are sent after approval. If an asset shows ‘Withdrawals closed’, its withdrawals are not open yet.
- Can I send ALTO points to another wallet?
- No. ALTO is a point used only inside the account. Redeem it for a coin, then withdraw that coin.
